Description
A really intriguing whisky from Glenmorangie, first manufactured from barley that has been botanically kilned. Dr. Bill Lumsden, director of whisky production at Glenmorangie, was inspired to create a dram that would capture the sights, sounds, and smells of the forest by the woods surrounding his house.Glenmorangie brought back the old method of kilning barley with botanicals here, following a series of tests. Dr. Lumsden described a Glenmorangie that was “as lush and leafy as the forest itself” by kilning the barley with juniper berries, birch bark, heather flowers, and a small amount of peat. He aged the whisky in bourbon casks, including several refill casks, to bring out the nuances of the spirit.
